The UAVP-NG Hardware Family

Introduction

The UAVP-NG project produced several different hardware platforms which all are running the same firmware called NGOS - The NG Operating System.

Please note that the different hardware revisions had different design goals. For example HW-0.1x uses discrete parts which are very easy to solder, while HW-0.2x still is designed for easy soldering and development but already uses SMD0805.

On the other hand HW-0.22-mini is optimized for space and uses the even smaller SMD0603 parts. HW-0.23-mini and HW-0.24-mini include an additional on-board Venus GPS and use higher integrated digital sensor chips and SMD0603 to integrate even more functionality within the same space.

HW-0.30 introduces a new CPU architecture and is based on two STM32F407 CPUs and a 16kB 16bit Dual-Port RAM which connects the two CPUs. It features fully digital sensory equipment as well as two high speed CAN bus transceivers allowing for an optional CAN bus BLC ring. Included on the board is a JTAG adapter which is connected to a 4 port high-speed USB 2.0 hub connecting all the different USB busses. HW-0.30 uses the smaller SMD0603 parts and a 6-layer PCB design. HW-0.30-mini implements exactly the same features as the big HW-0.30 without the second STM32F4 and without the Dual-Port RAM.
