HOWTOs
BL-Ctrl Modifications
This page will describe how to convert a low-cost brush-less controller (like a HK-30A ESC from HobbyKing) to a I²C model.
1. first, cut away the heat-shrink. Best to do this in the side of the metal plate.
2. unsolder the unneeded components: the 2 ST comps, the 2 capacitors near them and the resistor between the white wire and the pin 34 of the ATMEL.
3. drill away the pad and the through connection between the 2 resistors. Do it carefully! To be sure that you done a good job, check the resistance with an voltmeter (ohm) between the both resistors and the SDA pin (27) on the ATMEL, it should be no connection.
4. (re)make the jumper bridge between the 2 resistors.
5. solder a wire to create a bridge from 2 resistors to the ADC1 pin (24) of the ATMEL. Inspect the pins on each sides to detect an unwanted solder bridge.
6. now, we'll create the plug to flash the ATMEL: * pin 3 (OR 5) GND * pin 15 MOSI * pin 16 MISO * pin 17 SCK * pin 29 Reset After each soldering, check the resistant with the pins next to be sure there are no contact around.
7. we'll use the servo wire as I²C cable *pin 27 SDA to one of the ST removed comp. plotes connected to the red wire *pin 28 SCL to the top plot of the removed resistor
